Just A Thought ~ GODISM
"The word 'atheist'
is a thoroughly honest, unambiguous term. It means
one who does not believe in God, and it means neither
more nor less."
~ Robert Flint, British theologian
~
These days, many people claim to be
atheists, though without ~ in many cases ~ understanding
what the wordmeans. It depends upon what the word
'God' means ('Theo', in Greek, hence 'theist':
believer in Theo; 'theology': the
science of Theo, although it is not a science
at all); disbelief implies belief, does it not? The
two always go together, and we cannot have one without
the other. We cannot disbelieve something if we don't
believe it first.
So, what do we mean by the word 'God'?
A word is not a thing. We know the word ~ everyone
does ~ but what, if anything, does it represent? Before
we can discuss the matter further, we must know the
answer to this question without resorting to empty
and worn-out cliches like, 'God is the Creator of
the Universe', 'God is Love', etc. The onus of proving
something rests upon those who believe in it, not
upon those who don't, and they have never been able
to prove it, because it’s a myth. They are quite welcome
to believe it ~ believe whatever you want ~ as long
as you don’t try to force your ideas upon others.
So, no more witch-hunts or persecution of any kind,
eh?
